This was probably our last colony…beekeeping is definitely a 2-person hobby, and John seems to have dropped out. Our two previous colonies did not survive the winter, and it’s so painful to open the hive in the spring and find a box of dead bees. This particular colony has not been as robust as the others; in fact, we haven’t seen the queen since the end of June! But eggs continued to be laid and we saw brood, so someone was getting the job done! I wasn’t sure there would be bees this morning to wrap up, but there were…and they did NOT appreciate me messing with their hive. Sleep tight, little ones…and I hope to see you in the spring!
